Media reports on 16 October 2018 state that the United Arab Emirates government has charged Matthew Hedges with spying for the British government in the UAE. Matthew was detained on 05 May 2018 at Dubai Airport as he was leaving the country. Reports state that he would go on trial for spying and would appear in court in the week begining 22 October.
